Atalanta ‘in talks’ for ex-Juventus winger Mbangula | OneFootball

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Atalanta have opened talks over a late move for Werder Bremen winger Samuel Mbangula in the final week of the Serie A window, and that their pursuit does not affect negotiations with Bologna for Jonathan Rowe, for whom La Dea are willing to offer €40m including bonuses.

The deadline is 19.00 BST on September 1.

Mbangula spent his youth with Club Brugge and Anderlecht, moved to Italy in 2020, and progressed through Juventus Next Gen before breaking into Thiago Motta’s senior side in 2024-25.

He started on the opening day and scored after 23 minutes in Juventus’ 3-0 win over Como.

Across 2024-25 he registered four goals and five assists in 32 appearances, then joined Werder Bremen last summer for €10m plus up to €2m in bonuses.

He recorded three goals and four assists in 26 Bundesliga outings last season, with 12 starts and 14 appearances off the bench.

Atalanta’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is expected to be involved in any negotiations, having previously held the same role at Juventus when Mbangula was promoted.
