Monza CEO Adriano Galliani has claimed again that no team has directly asked for Daniel Maldini despite the insistent ties to Inter, Juventus, and especially Atalanta. The official spoke with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Mediaset).
“He has everything tactically and physicality. He just needs to be fiercer. I strongly wanted him, and he desired to return to Monza at the same time. Two clubs currently in the top half of the table pursued him. No side has requested him. His future is here with us.”
According to Alfredo Pedullà, Atalanta have been following Maldini since last summer. They decided to take a flier on Nicolò Zaniolo instead, but the Milan product was already on their radar. His father Paolo would be delighted if he moved to La Dea, as it’d be one further step in his growth.
Monza will eventually be open for business at the end of the season. Per Calciomercato, Gian Piero Gasperini is happier the more attackers he has at his disposal. He likes reclamation projects, and he’d have a strong base to work with in this case.
Atalanta are already in the hunt, as it’s not certain Zaniolo will stay past this campaign since he’s on loan, and top teams could chase Ademola Lookman again. They are preparing a €6M offer for the Brianzoli.
He’s been solid, but his name and reputation also help him get more attention than other players of similar stature. He’d be a great fit for La Dea, as he’s looked very comfortable in a similar system. He’s potentially a good change-of-pace guy off the bench for a big side, and Inter lack that.
