Corriere dello Sport reports that Atalanta are close to signing Leverkusen’s 18-year-old Kerim Alajbegovic.

Current Atalanta defender Sead Kolasinac, a Bosnia team-mate and formerly of Schalke, has reportedly helped persuade the teenager to make the move.

The deal is expected to send €25m plus bonuses to Leverkusen, a lucrative return for the Rhineland club, though it could mean parting with one of football’s brightest prospects.

After a season at RB Salzburg that produced nine goals and three assists in 29 games, Leverkusen paid eight million euros to bring him back.

The attacking midfielder was also among the youngest starters at the World Cup and played in all four of Bosnia’s games.
