Atalanta’s confidence in Juric is no longer unconditional

Atalanta are not thrilled with their start to the 2025-26 season, which has left them in 10th place in the Serie A table after 10 league matches, and now, the club’s confidence in head coach Ivan Juric is no longer unconditional.

Atalanta and Juric: Two key matches to save their future

La Dea invested heavily over the summer transfer window, but as things stand, their points tally after 10 matches is meagre considering how much the club spent a few months ago. Then came the performance away against Udinese over the weekend: An abysmal showing, which resulted in the team’s first league defeat of the season.

The club has confidence in Juric, but compared to a week or two ago, that faith is no longer unconditional. Atalanta expected, and still expects to see more from the head coach and his players.

Now, the next two matches – away against Marseille in the Champions League, and at home against Sassuolo in Serie A –  will be crucial, and could shape the club and coach’s future.

As things stand, the club’s summer signings (Kamaldeen Sulemana, Nikola Krstovic, Nicola Zalewski and Yunus Musah), have not delivered, but the club still expects the situation to turn around. If not, La Dea could backtrack on their faith in Juric.

In the event that Atalanta do decide to part ways with Juric in the near future, Raffaele Palladino is a name to keep an eye on. He was also in the running for the Atalanta job before the club landed on Juric over the summer.

Thiago Motta, who is still being paid by Juventus, is another candidate to monitor should the situation at Atalanta worsen over the next few games.
