Athletic and Javier Lerga to part ways at end of contract | OneFootball

Athletic and Javier Lerga will part at the end of his contract on 30 June 2026, following a post-season review.

The club said in a statement that their time together is over, noting the continued rejuvenation of the side and a seventh-place league finish.

Lerga took charge last summer after the departure of David Aznar, arriving as a European Under-19 champion with Spain.

Over the campaign he oversaw 33 games across Liga F Moeve, the Copa de la Reina and the Supercopa. While results fluctuated at times, his team were consistently competitive and developed under his watch.

First-team debuts under Lerga included academy players Eider Arana, 20 appearances after two years on loan at Eibar, Elene Gurtubay 21, Nerea Benito 10, Oihana Agirregomezkorta four, Ane Bordagaray one and Irati Alfaro one.
