The visitors travelled to San Mamés without talisman Antoine Griezmann, who missed out through injury.

Ernesto Valverde's side already held a one-goal lead from the first leg before Thursday's return fixture.

But Iñaki Williams extended the hosts' advantage in the tie by volleying home a cross from brother Nico.

The pair combined again shortly before the interval as poacher turned provider to set up his sibling for a close-range finish.

A medical emergency in the stands led to a delayed second-half start before the Lehoiak aimed to build on their comfortable margin.

It was further enhanced shortly after the hour mark when Gorka Guruzeta pounced on Jan Oblak spilling an Oihan Sancet shot.

Athletic Club will take on Mallorca at Seville's Estadio de La Cartuja on 6 April in efforts to win their first Copa del Rey for 40 years.
