Athletic Club star agrees Serie A switch | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Athletic Club have this week reached an agreement over the sale of a member of the club’s midfield ranks.

This comes amid the understanding that Unai Gómez is all set to take his talents to Italy, with Udinese.

Unai for his part spent this past season playing something of a bit part role in the colours of Athletic. Across all competitions, the 23-year-old racked up a solid 36 appearances.

Less than half of these outings, however, came as a starter, as Unai struggled to carve out a consistent spot for himself in Los Leones’ XI.

The board at San Mamés, in turn, recently opened the door to a sale at the right price. And as alluded to above, Serie A outfit Udinese have this week evidently agreed to fork over the required sum.

As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Udinese reach agreement in principle on deal to sign Unai Gómez from Athletic Club. Agreement club to club and also on player side to sign 23-year-old midfielder from Bilbao.’
