Athletic Club star Oihan Sancet has on Saturday secured for himself an altogether noteworthy La Liga milestone.

Athletic marked their return to action this afternoon, welcoming Girona to the Basque Country for a league clash.

When all was said and done, Ernesto Valverde’s hosts cruised to all three points, courtesy of a 3-0 triumph.

And it was the aforementioned Oihan Sancet who proved himself the undisputed star of the show.

En route to Man of the Match honours at San Mamés, the 24-year-old rattled off a remarkable hat-trick, in an individual display which will live long in the memory.

As much builds further upon what has been a superb season to date on Sancet’s part, with the Spaniard having now racked up 12 goals and three assists across all competitions.

Not only that, but, as revealed by statisticians Statmuse, his latest haul in front of goal has also seen Sancet establish himself as the first midfielder to score 10 or more goals in La Liga this season.
