With all the attention on Chelsea’s manager hunt, the situation with some of their key players continues to evolve.

The Athletic have just put out a story claiming that Manchester City are interested in Enzo Fernandez, who has already cast serious doubt on his future at Chelsea. City’s interest is “at an early stage”, and will be weighed up alongside bids for the likes of Elliot Anderson according to their sources.

Fernandez was clearly not happy with the departure of Enzo Maresca in January, and his dislike of Liam Rosenior seems to have played an important part in the squad turning against their coach. One would think the Argentina international would be more easily persuaded to stay with a new coach in place.

But there’s another twist – Maresca could soon be taking over at Man City, where Pep Guardiola is increasingly looking like he’s ready to step down. A reunion between the two is very much on the cards it seems.
