Athletic have reshaped their medical department, appointing Gontzal Díaz-Beitia to take charge of first-team medical duties for Edin Terzic's squad. The club said in a statement that he becomes the new doctor for the first team.

The decision was taken by Josean Lekue, the club's head of medical services. The role had been handled by Lekue, and before that by Paco Angulo.

Since 2007 he has taught Human Physiology and Sports Physiology at the EHU, alongside his long career at Lezama.
