The anticipated Double S at Athletic has yet to materialise, with Maroan Sannadi and Selton Sánchez progressing on different tracks. There is hope they will flourish at San Mamés soon, and Terzic will need to assess both and shape their roles for next season.
As reported by as.com, the pair have not shared an official line-up, their timelines rarely aligning since Sannadi, born in Vitoria in 2001, underwent knee meniscus surgery and spent five months out, just as Sánchez, born in Durango in 2007, first touched the senior set-up.
Sannadi, signed from Alavés and noted for his power against defences, has trained with the group for some time. Valverde used him on his return against Getafe, then left him out against Villarreal and Osasuna for technical reasons.
Sánchez dropped back to Bilbao Athletic five matches ago to accrue Primera Federación minutes and build robustness. Before the Osasuna match, Valverde said he is with the B team for now, would be promoted if required, and that after illness last year and limited B action this season, playing regularly is the priority.
The midfielder impressed in the Youth League alongside Manex Lozano and has barely featured with the reserves. Inside Lezama there is belief that his talent could make a difference in Athletic’s midfield over the coming years.
