Moroccan international goalkeeper sidelined after setback in national team training
Atlas Lions Lose Experienced Keeper to Training Knock
RS Berkane’s preparations for the new season were dealt major blow after veteran goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi picked up shoulder injury during Morocco’s recent international camp.
Although Mohamedi was called up for the Atlas Lions matches against Niger & Zambia, he didn't feature with Yassine Bounou starting both games.
The 35 year old felt severe shoulder pain during the final training session prompting staff to exclude him from the Zambia clash as precaution.
Reports confirm Berkane’s management has already contacted Morocco’s medical staff to obtain detailed updates amid fears that the experienced keeper could face lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Morocco Maintain Perfect Record
Meanwhile Morocco defeated Zambia 2 - 0 to extend their unbeaten run and strengthen their lead in Group E with 21 point from 7 game already securing World cup 2026 qualification last week against Niger.
This injury compounds Berkane’s problems, with midfielder Yassine Labhiri also out long term. Coach Moine Chaabani may now be forced to find quick solutions before the start of the new campaign.
