Atlético de Madrid won at Camp Nou for the first time since February 2006, ending a 20-year wait. The result halted a 25-match winless run at the ground, the last victory there coming under Pepe Murcia.

L'Équipe highlights the standout numbers from the quarter-final. Barcelona have been knocked out in each of their previous three Champions League two-legged ties after losing the first leg at home.

They have also lost three of their last eight home games at this stage, with four wins and one draw. Across their first 45 at this stage, they returned 31 wins, 10 draws and four defeats.

This was their first home game without a goal in 40, in all competitions, since a 1-0 league defeat to Leganés in December 2024.

Julian Alvarez became only the second player to score a direct free-kick away to Barcelona in the Champions League, after Antonio da Silva for Stuttgart in December 2007.

Pau Cubarsi, 19, is the first player in Champions League history to be sent off twice before turning 20, having also seen red in last season's round of 16 first leg against Benfica.

Alvarez’s ninth Champions League goal of the season is the most by an Atlético de Madrid player in a single campaign, surpassing Diego Costa’s eight in 2013-2014.
