Atletico Madrid have reaching an agreement in principle on personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero, according to transfer reporter Matteo Moretto.

The 28-year-old Argentina international is ready to join Los Colchoneros, who are now in contact with Spurs to agree a transfer fee.

Romero has expressed a desire to seek a new challenge abroad, prompting interest from several European heavyweights.

Inter Milan had previously established contact with Spurs and were willing to do a deal for around €40 million.
