Atlético Madrid agrees ‘imminent’ Premier League switch | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid is all set to take his talents to the Premier League this summer. The Rojiblancos star on the exit ramp? Matteo Ruggeri.

Stopper Ruggeri has of course seen his name subjected to widespread speculation across the summer transfer window to date. Just a year on from his arrival in Spain’s capital, it has long been rumoured that Atlético would be prepared to open the doors to a sale in the face of an offer deemed as sufficient.

Diego Simeone’s left-back ranks have already been added to in high-profile fashion with a view to next season, courtesy of the signing of Alejandro Grimaldo.

After Premier League outfit Aston Villa stepped forward with a recent bid for Ruggeri, the Metropolitano brass therefore showcased little hesitance in giving the deal the green light.

And as alluded to above, this weekend, the Italian has also given his word to Unai Emery’s side. As per a report from transfer market insider Matteo Moretto:

‘Matteo Ruggeri has just accepted Aston Villa’s offer: his departure from Atlético is imminent.’
