Atletico Madrid defender Javi Galan has indicated he wants to stay at Real Sociedad next season.
The versatile left back opted to joined La Real on loan in January after a frustrating first six months in Madrid.
Galan was tipped as an ideal player for Diego Simeone, due to his powerful and combative style, after joining Los Rojiblancos from Celta Vigo last summer.
However, the 29-year-old has struggled to force himself into Simeone’s plans, and is performing well in San Sebastian.
Galan admitted he is open to staying in the Basque Country on a permanent deal if an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.
“I’m happy here at Real Sociedad, but continuing does not depend entirely on me, in the summer we will talk”, as per quotes from Diario AS.
If a deal can be brokered to keep Galan at Real Sociedad it could also boost Atletico Madrid’s hopes of signing Robin Le Normand.
Simeone wants a new centre back ahead of next season, with Le Normand an option, and letting Galan go as part of the agreement would significantly reduce Real Sociedad’s asking price.
