Already, five first team players have left Atletico Madrid this summer, and that will become six when Alvaro Morata joins AC Milan. A seventh could soon follow, that being goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan.
Moldovan joined Atleti in January as a replacement for Ivo Grbic, who transferred to Sheffield United. However, after playing zero matches during the second half of last season, the 26-year-old has become incredibly frustrated, and he’s already pushing to leave the club.
Atleti are more than happy to allow Moldovan to leave, and Matteo Moretto has reported that Rayo Vallecano are in talks to sign the Romanian international. At this stage, it’s unclear whether it would be a loan or permanent deal – Los Colchoneros will be pining for the latter, as they continue building their budget for the summer.
Moldovan’s departure does mean that Atletico Madrid will require a new backup ‘keeper. PSV’s Walter Benitez has been targeted, but for now, there are no clear indications as to who will be Jan Oblak’s understudy for next season.
