Atletico Madrid offered chance to sign €75m-rated striker as possible replacement for Barcelona target | OneFootball

According to reports from Club Uría, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Victor Osimhen has been offered to Atletico Madrid, as intermediaries explore the possibility of bringing one of Europe’s top strikers to the Spanish capital.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international, currently at Galatasaray, would cost around €75 million, making any deal a significant financial commitment.

This development comes amidst the strong uncertainty over the future of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who is a target for FC Barcelona and wants to move to the Spotify Camp Nou.

Osimhen ready to take a pay cut

One of the most notable aspects of the proposal is Osimhen’s reported willingness to reduce his salary to make a move to Atletico possible.

The striker currently earns a substantial wage in Turkey, where foreign residents benefit from favourable tax regulations during their first 20 years in the country, significantly increasing their net income. He also remains under contract with Galatasaray until 2029.

Despite those financial advantages, Osimhen is open to sacrificing part of his salary to play under Diego Simeone, whom he admires greatly.

Atletico turned down the opportunity

Despite the player’s interest, the report states that Atletico Madrid have rejected the proposal to sign Osimhen.

The club are not in a financial position to commit to a deal worth around €75 million, and, more importantly, they continue to view Alvarez as the striker around whom they intend to build their attack.

Despite the strong interest from Barcelona and the player’s interest in making the switch, Atletico Madrid officials have no intention of selling the Argentine forward, making Osimhen’s arrival unnecessary under their current plans.

Atletico remain firm

Meanwhile, the Catalans’ sporting director, Deco, and head of scouting, Joao Amaral are in Madrid today to hold a meeting with the Argentine striker’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo, to discuss the next steps as they look to push the operation forward.

But, as things stand, Atletico Madrid remain firm that they will not sell Alvarez despite Barcelona pushing hard for his service and even being willing to increase their offer to around €115 million.
