Atletico Madrid refuse to budge as Julian Alvarez eyes Barcelona move | OneFootball

Some significant developments have taken place in recent hours as FC Barcelona continue their pursuit of the Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, whom they continue to consider as their preferred candidate to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Two days ago, Deco travelled to Madrid to meet with the player’s agent, and devise a joint strategy to make the Colchoneros agree to his sale. Later, reports emerged claiming that Alvarez was planning to talk to Diego Simeone, when he returns to train with him on 10 August, to find a way out of his present situation.

It remains to be seen how this conversation would go and what its outcome would be. But for now, there is not a lot of reason for optimism for Barcelona, as Mundo Deportivo claims that sources from Atletico Madrid have told them that the Mattress Makers have no plans to budge from their earlier position of not letting the Argentine leave for any amount.

Another proof that their stance on Alvarez remains unchanged was their rejection of the offer to sign Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray for €75 million. When approached by the Nigerian forward, Atletico explained that they already have the Argentine as their center-forward.

Meanwhile, Alvarez has also started training in accordance with the plan sent by the Colchonero club for their players on holidays. This has given them further hope that they can turn things around with their star forward, and can convince him to continue with their team going forward.
