Throughout this summer transfer window, FC Barcelona have been trying to figure out a way to bring Julian Alvarez to the club. Unfortunately for them, Atletico Madrid have proven to be a tough side to negotiate with, but that is not something entirely surprising.
Even in the past, the Madrid-based club has been notorious for being a tough negotiator, and this summer has been nothing different. Fully committed to retaining the services of the Argentinian forward, they have made things quite difficult for Barça over the last few weeks.
However, SPORT has recently revealed that Atletico Madrid do have an asking price in mind for the player. The price that they have established is €150 million, but it comes with a set of conditions that are considered to be non-negotiable.
Los Colchoneros would ideally not like to strengthen their direct rivals or offload one of their key players, but if they must do it they have their conditions. One of those conditions is that Barcelona will have to pay the full amount upfront and Atletico Madrid will not accept instalment payments.
Moreover, they will not be lowering their asking price through the inclusion of other players that Barça might be looking to offload. That particular opportunity reportedly only exists for other clubs such as Arsenal, who could potentially offer Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres alongside €70 million in cash, and that is a package that Atletico Madrid might be open to considering.
As for Barcelona, the conditions are way stricter and require a much bigger investment from the Catalan giants. However, given how determined La Blaugrana are to acquire the Argentinian striker this summer, they are not expected to back down either as per the report.
Contact remains active between the Catalan club and Alvarez’s entourage, and things are happening behind the scenes. Moreover, the report claims that talks are expected to progress more extensively after the conclusion of the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
