A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid has on Saturday secured for himself a piece of Spanish football history.
This comes owing to his appearance in the Rojiblancos’ meeting with arch rivals Real Madrid.
The season’s first edition of the Madrid Derby is of course currently being played out at the Metropolitano.
As things stand after a spectacular first-half, the sides are deadlocked at two goals apiece.
The final strike of the opening 45 minutes came on the stroke of the interval, when Koke’s delicious delivery was nodded home by Alexander Sørloth.
And it was the former, in simply taking to the pitch on Saturday, who secured for himself a special piece of Madrid Derby history.
As revealed by statisticians Opta:
‘Atlético de Madrid’s Koke Resurrección plays his 43rd game against Real Madrid in all competitions and equals Sergio Ramos as the player with the most Madrid derbies in the entire history of this competition.
