‘Atletico Madrid are not done yet’ in the transfer market was the message to come out of Diego Simeone’s press conference before their clash with Espanyol on Wednesday. It appears that they will be trying to bring in another central midfielder.
According to El Chiringuito, Atletico have already been in touch with the agents of Getafe midfielder Luis Milla. The 29-year-old is keen on a move, and Atletico are now expected to make contact with Getafe today enquire about the terms of the deal.
Milla, whose career has been hampered by injuries in recent years, has been an essential part of Los Azulones’ operations in the middle whenever fit. A deeper-lying player, Milla’s vision and ability to move the ball under pressure stand out.
With three years left on his contract, Getafe will no doubt be loathe to lose one of their key players so close to the transfer window, especially given they have struggled to get much strength in depth in. Atletico have also been linked with a loan move for Manchester City’s Matheus Nunes, but are yet to make contact with the English champions for him.
