Atletico Madrid ‘to pay up to €30m’ for Mario Gila amid Milan interest

Atletico Madrid are being linked with a summer move for Lazio defender Mario Gila.

Diario As reports that Atletico have set their sights on the centre-back for next season and may be prepared to pay up to €30m, while Milan are understood to be around €20m, with recruitment now run by former Lazio director of sport Igli Tare. The report adds that Atletico hold greater financial clout.

Gila is under contract with Lazio until June 2027. He joined from Real Madrid in 2022 for six million euros after rising through their academy, and he is originally from Barcelona.

Atletico are reshaping their defence, with Clement Lenglet and Jose Maria Gimenez both tipped to depart in the summer.

The Colchoneros have also turned to Serie A in recent months, signing Matteo Ruggeri and Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, Nico Gonzalez from Juventus, and Giacomo Raspadori from Napoli.
