Lautaro Martinez urged his Inter Milan teammates to bounce back from the derby heartbreak in tonight’s clash against Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to Prime via FCInterNews, El Toro also hailed Los Rojiblancos, who beat the Nerazzurri in their only previous meeting in Spain.

A catalog of missed opportunities saw Inter suffer a morale-wracking 1-0 defeat to AC Milan on Sunday.

Indeed, Cristian Chivu’s charges hit the woodwork twice, while Hakan Calhanoglu wasted a penalty.

Unfortunately, Lautaro Martinez struck the post late in the first half, maintaining his poor form against top teams.

El Toro has now failed to score in all four high-stakes Serie A fixtures this season.

However, he has been in formidable form in the Champions League, netting three goals in four appearances.

Therefore, he will be Inter’s attacking mainstay at the Metropolitano Stadium later this evening.

Yet, Marcus Thuram won’t start by his side, with Francesco Pio Esposito expected to dislodge the Frenchman from the starting lineup.

“Surely, the match didn’t go in the direction we had played it,” Lautaro admitted. “We put in an excellent performance.

“Even at San Siro, we deserved more. But this time it’s another year, a new competition.

“We have to try to execute what we’ve prepared to put them in difficulty.”

Furthermore, Lautaro confirmed that Inter have already put Sunday’s upset behind them.

“We immediately turned the page after the derby. This is a different competition,” he added. “We have to do our job – what we prepared on the eve of the match after recovering.

“And we’ve analyzed how Atlético defend and attack; we are ready to face a strong team in a stadium that pushes them a lot.

“Smile more? I’ve been like this since the start of my career, but I smile when I need to.

“I try to give my best, and I’m calm because I always leave everything on the pitch.”
