Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta replied to the earlier statement made by Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri chief reiterated the club’s trust in new manager Cristian Chivu.
Inter appointed the 45-year-old as their new head coach in June after severing ties with Simone Inzaghi.
Despite lacking experience in top-flight management, Cristian Chivu has impressed the club’s hierarchy in the early stages of his tenure.
Indeed, Chivu has guided Inter to a flawless four-game record in the Champions League.
Furthermore, the San Siro giants remain firmly in the Scudetto race despite losing their last Serie A fixture to AC Milan.
Meanwhile, Simeone has built a dynasty in Madrid since taking charge of the club in 2011.
However, one of the longest-serving managers in European football has hinted at a potential return to Giuseppe Meazza in the future.
Still, it won’t be soon, at least according to Marotta.

“I see it as admiration for a club he knows well, a club that’s at the forefront in Europe,” Marotta said.
“We have a young coach like Chivu, and I hope he stays at Inter for many years because he fits exactly what we were looking for.
“We’re happy with him, and I’m convinced he can remain at Inter for a very long time.”
Asked whether he views the Metropolitano Stadium as an inspiration for the San Siro project, Marotta replied: “San Siro has always had its charm, but this is a chance to see a modern stadium.
“The need for a new stadium in Milan was essential. The process will be long, but we cannot forget what San Siro has given us over these decades.
“A new stadium is still a priority.”
Finally, he delivered his verdict on Inter’s indomitable Champions League run.
“We’ve played four matches and earned 12 points against manageable opponents.
“Tonight is the first real test of a certain level and a benchmark for what’s ahead.
“Over the last two months, our performances have clearly been good enough – perhaps the results haven’t always reflected that.
“Credit to Milan for winning on Sunday, but our performance was more than good enough.”
