Despite Sommer’s blunder, Cristian Chivu is reportedly reluctant to punish the former Bayern Munich star.

Instead, Sommer will be in goal when the San Siro giants face Atletico Madrid in a high-stakes European match tomorrow night.

Therefore, second-string shot-stopper Josep Martinez will remain on the bench.

Despite returning to training after a tragic car accident in October, the 27-year-old’s psychological state remains uncertain.

As such, Chivu will stick with Sommer as his first choice between the sticks.
