Whilst Antoine Griezmann (34) has confirmed that his ultimate goal remains to play in the MLS, however, the Frenchman wishes to continue at Atletico Madrid, for now.
Griezmann has asserted himself as a legend at Atletico Madrid. The former France international has 200 goals in 461 matches for the La Liga giants. There was great uncertainty regarding his future at the club earlier this year, however, he ultimately opted to extend at Atletico Madrid. His new contract runs until 2027.
The former Barcelona forward has never hidden his desire to play in the USA, as his former international teammates, Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris, have recently done. He has now explained his decision to remain with Atletico Madrid in an interview with AS.
“[Why stay]? Because I want more. I still have a lot of time left to play, lots of energy, lots of lucidity to play and become important at the club,” said Griezmann, who announced his international retirement back in September 2024.
However, he then confirmed that his MLS “dream” remains unaltered. “Everyone knows that my dream, my objective is the MLS, but I am still under contract. I want to continue,” said the Frenchman. This season, he has five goals in 16 games.
