Atlético Madrid have reportedly opened negotiations with Botafogo with a view to signing Brazil’s hottest new striking prospect.
The player in question is 16-year-old Matheus Nacsimento, who has caught the eye of several elite clubs, including Juventus.
But FogãoNET report that the Rojiblancos have made contact with Botafogo about the striker, although no agreement is in place.
Atlético have registered their first preference to sign the player when he turns 18 as current rules do not permit him to make the move to Spain until then.
“They have expressed an interest in being the first to be notified when we are willing to negotiate for Matheus,” club board member Rciardo Rotenberg told
“They’ve made it clear they will pay and when they choose to do so, the fans will know about it.
“All the clubs in the world want him and at the moment, there is nothing more than interest from everyone.”
The Brazil underage international has scored 150 times at the various youth levels for Botafogo.
