Atlético Mineiro beat Fluminense 3-1 at Arena MRV to rise from eighth to seventh and halt the visitors' nine-match unbeaten run.

Flu threatened early as Jefferson Savarino struck the bar and Guilherme Arana drew a save from Gabriel Delfim. Galo steadied before the break.

Reinier broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, rifling in from outside the box after a set piece from Tomás Cuello. Cuello then doubled the lead with a low finish (63.).

With Gustavo Scarpa and Igor Gomes introduced, Galo kept the pressure on. Fábio denied a close-range header from Vitão, but the defender forced in a third from a corner soon after, set up by Mateo Casierra (81.).

Rodrigo Castillo pulled one back, converting Kevin Serna's headed pass (90.).

Galo posted 15 attempts, with seven on target. Flu edged possession at 51.7% and registered three efforts on target.
