Football history was made in Argentina this evening after minnows Club Atlético Platense were crowned champions for the first time.
A magical run during the 2025 Apertura saw El Calamar finish sixth in Zone B before going on an improbable run to the final.
Locking horns with Racing Club (1-0 win), River Plate (1-1; 4-2 win on penalties), and San Lorenzo (1-0 win)on their way to the final, Platense then met Huracán at Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, where they fought to a, you guessed it, 1-0 win.
The lone goal of the evening came in the 64th minute from veteran winger Guido Mainero, which was enough to secure a first-ever trophy across the club's 120-year history.
