As reported by Augsburg are interested in signing Karlsruhe’s Tim Breithaupt as the 20-year-old is one of club’s favoured candidates to play as a six due to the impending departure of Carlos Gruezo
The deal could be expensive for Augsburg, costing between €3m-€4m. The 20-year-old has played 17 times for Karlsruhe this season and made his competitive debut for the team in 2020. Karlsruhe are interested in keeping Breithaupt which makes the transfer currently not possible.
Another option for Augsburg is Ron Schallenberg of Paderborn. Kicker are reporting that the Paderborn captain is an alternative to Breithaupt. However, Paderborn are reluctant to sell the 24-year-old and he would also cost between €3m-€4m, which as mentioned before, is expensive for Augsburg.
Augsburg have been very active in the transfer market this winter making five signings already with Arne Engels (Club Brugge), Dion Beljo (Osljek), David Colina (Hajduk Split), Kelvin Yeboah (Genoa) and Irvin Cardona (Brest) all joining the club in January.
