Bundesliga side Augsburg are on the verge of signing 23-year-old German midfielder Niklas Dorsch from KAA Gent, according to Bild.
An agreement between Dorsch and Augsburg has been reached with only the final formalities with Belgian side Gent to be agreed upon. Augsburg will pay a reported fee of around €7m plus a further €1m in performance related bonuses.
Per the report, French side Rennes also submitted an offer but Augsburg squad planner, Timon Pauls, worked with Dorsch at Bayern Munich which is thought to be a deciding factor.
Dorsch excelled as the Germany U21 side lifted the European Championship this summer. He will also join up with Stefan Kuntz’ side at the Tokyo Olympics.
