Aurélien Tchouaméni (24) will not be included in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
His club, Real Madrid, have announced that the former Girondins de Bordeaux and AS Monaco midfielder has suffered a sprain to his left ankle. The duration of his absence has not been specified, however, reports in Spain suggest that he could miss around one month’s worth of action.
In any case, and as reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Tchouaméni will miss the upcoming international break. Deschamps will announce his squad for the games against Israel and Italy in the Nations League on Thursday. Prior to Tchouaméni’s injury, it had been reported that Olympique de Marseille’s Adrien Rabiot, absent from the France set-up since Euro 2024, was set for a recall.
It was also reported that VfB Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot could receive a first-ever call-up for Les Bleus. The injury suffered by Tchouaméni now increases the chances of that becoming a reality when Deschamps makes his picks tomorrow.
