Austria will take on Spain in their Round of 32 clash on Thursday at Los Angeles Stadium.

Austria has shown mixed form in the tournament so far. They began their Group J campaign with a 3-1 victory over Jordan, but then suffered a 2-0 defeat to Argentina. In their final group game, they secured qualification in dramatic fashion with a 96th-minute equaliser from Saša Kalajdžić in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Algeria. While their attack has been effective, their defence has struggled, conceding six goals across the three matches.

Austria team news

Austria enters the knockout stage in a much better physical condition, with no major injury concerns affecting the squad.

Manager Ralf Rangnick has a fully fit group to choose from, with no suspensions or fresh injuries reported.

Captain David Alaba, who had a minor fitness concern, has been cleared to play and will lead the defence.

Veteran forward Marko Arnautović is also ready to start despite taking a knock to his knee in the previous match.

In midfield, Xaver Schlager and Nicolas Seiwald are expected to continue in their roles, providing stability and balance.

Austria also has strong options available on the bench, including Saša Kalajdžić, who can be introduced later in the game to provide a physical attacking presence and challenge Spain’s defence.
