Auxerre kept alive hopes of direct Ligue 1 survival with a 3-1 win over Angers on Sunday, led by Sinayoko and Mara.

The Strasbourg loanee Mara struck on 12 minutes, volleying in with his left after Sinayoko’s effort was pushed out by Koffi, before Diomandé blocked Prosper Peter at 14. L'Équipe notes that the pair were involved in all three Auxerre goals and each received 8 in the ratings.

Angers’ night worsened when Amine Sbaï was sent off for dissent in first-half stoppage time, after repeated protests and a brief clapping gesture brought two rapid cautions.

At 1-0, Théo De Percin preserved the lead by saving Branco Van den Boomen’s penalty on 51 minutes, diving to his left. Sinayoko’s sharp work down the right fashioned the second on 61, finished a minute later by Mara with a centre-forward’s touch.

Peter was replaced by Koyalipou on 63 minutes. Mara then released Sinayoko to score his ninth of the season on 67, and the forward was booked for his celebration a minute later. Koyalipou converted a penalty on 78, before Mara made way to applause for Coulibaly on 79 and Van den Boomen was replaced by Hanin on 86.
