According to a report from L’Équipe, FC Augsburg are set to complete the transfer of Han-Noah Massengo (24) from Burnley FC on a permanent transfer, with the official announcement imminent.

The Frenchman will sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga side, after they forked out a little over €3m. However, for a while, it seemed as if AJ Auxerre would be the club to land the midfielder. Massengo had spent the past six months on loan with the Ligue 1 side (his second spell at the club, having also been loaned out in 2023 when he was on the books with Bristol City).

However, the club were unsuccessful in negotiating a reduction in Burnley’s €3m asking price. A fan favourite in the Burgundy region and highly valued by manager Christophe Pelissier, Massengo’s presence will be missed as Auxerre look to maintain their Ligue 1 status for a second season in a row.
