AVAÍ / FME Florianópolis / APGF cyclist trains in Spain

Cyclist João Pedro Varaschin Piazza, 16, is in Spain, in O Porriño, Galicia, where he is taking part in an international training camp. The learning period lasts 45 days. The athlete joined the youth team of Avaí / FME Florianópolis / APGF in 2024. Right in his first races, he showed he was a standout athlete, winning countless competitions at the state and national levels. He was one of the highlights of the 2025 National Ranking, in which he was crowned runner-up in the Youth category (15 and 16 years old). In April 2026, he earned his first international title at the 500 Miles of the North Tour, held in Uruguay. João Pedro won the tour in the overall standings in the Junior category (17 and 18 years old).

“I’m living an incredible experience here in Spain. I’ve been here for a week, and the feelings have been very positive. I’m adapting more and more to the climate, the environment, and the routine, and everything has contributed to making me feel good and prepared for the next challenges,” said young talent João Pedro Piazza.

“This Saturday (15), I will compete in my first race in Portugal. I’m very happy to be experiencing all of this, confident that I can do well in the races and, above all, enjoy every moment and really make the most of cycling. More than competing, I want to take advantage of this opportunity to grow and learn,” Piazza concluded.
