Avaí FME Florianópolis cycling team wins National Ranking race at home

The AVAÍ / FME Florianópolis / APGF cycling team took part this weekend in the 36th edition of the Subida do Morro da Cruz cycling race, the Roberto Alves Journalist Trophy, held as part of the celebrations for Florianópolis’ 353rd anniversary. The competition counted toward the National and State cycling rankings and took place on Beira-Mar Norte Avenue, finishing at the top of Morro da Cruz. The event featured 200 athletes, who covered 90 km.

In the Women’s Elite category, the Avaí / FME Florianópolis / APGF team delivered a perfect performance, placing three athletes on the podium. The victory went to Tamires Fanny Radatz, who claimed her fourth win in this race. Young athlete Fabiane Baggio de Meira, developed through Avaí’s youth system, finished in 3rd place. Meanwhile, multi-champion Mariana Borges de Andrade took 5th place.

In the Men’s Elite category, the win went to Alexandre Manarelli of Rio do Sul. Guilherme Freitas Galvão, from the Avaí-FME Florianópolis-APGF team, finished in 6th place.

In the Women’s Youth category, it was another strong performance by the Avaí / FME Florianópolis / APGF team. The victory went to athlete Isabelly Pierry da Silva. Amanda Baggio de Meira finished in 3rd place.

In the Women’s Junior category, there was another great victory, this time by Avaí athlete Aghata Mariana Iwansenko, who has been dominating the junior category.

In the Men’s Junior category, Avaí had two athletes on the podium: João Pedro Piazza claimed 2nd place and Enzo Ronconi Machado finished in 5th place.

“This was another great achievement for the team, as we managed to secure our fourth consecutive women’s title in this important race on the national calendar, on a day of celebration for cycling, which was attended by Florianópolis Secretary of Sports and Culture, Mr. Roberto Katumi Oda. Without a doubt, this is one of the most difficult and traditional classic races on the national calendar. We can only thank everyone who contributed to yet another great result for the team on the national and international sports scene, as the event featured athletes from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela,” highlighted Diones Chinelatto, the team’s technical coordinator and athlete.

The team’s next commitment will be at the Brazilian Cycling Championships, in Brasília, from June 24 to 28.
