Away from home, under-20s beaten by Novorizontino in Paulista

The U-20s were beaten 2-1 by Novorizontino this Tuesday (11) at Dr. Jorge Ismael de Biasi Stadium in Novo Horizonte (SP), in the Paulista Championship for the category. Renan scored São Paulo’s goal.

With the result, the team suffered its first defeat in the competition and remained on 21 points, still inside the qualification zone for the next stage.

The first half was evenly matched, with both teams creating chances, but it was the home side that opened the scoring in the 44th minute. Two minutes earlier, São Paulo had found the net through Robert, but the goal was disallowed by the referee.

In the second half, Novorizontino doubled their lead in the 14th minute. São Paulo pushed in search of an equalizer and pulled one back through Renan in the 38th minute, with a header after a cross from Felipe. However, the Made In Cotia side were unable to find the equalizer.

The team’s next match is scheduled for Sunday (16) against Ibrachina at 3 p.m. at Estádio Prefeito José Liberatti in Osasco (SP), in the state championship.
