A new evening of international football in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers featured three Rossoneri players, including two of our new signings. France made a solid start to their qualifying group: on neutral ground in Wrocław, they ran out 2–0 winners over Ukraine, with a goal in each half (Olise and Mbappé). Captain Mike Maignan started in goal and produced an assured display, making some important interventions - most notably a save with his feet to thwart Vanat in stoppage time. Adrien Rabiot, making his first international appearance as an AC Milan player, came on for the final quarter of an hour for Deschamps' side.
Luka Modrić also made his first international outing as a Rossonero (his 189th appearance for Croatia overall) after coming on in the 65th minute of his country's hard-fought win away to the Faroe Islands. Dalić's men secured a 1–0 thanks to Bradarić's finish, a result that keeps them on maximum points in Group L with nine points, three adrift of Czechia, who, however, have played two more matches. Beyond the World Cup qualifiers, Zachary Athekame played the full 90 minutes in Switzerland U21s' 2–0 win in Estonia, their opening match in the race to qualify for the 2027 European Under-21 Championship in Serbia and Albania.
