Axel Disasi set for Crystal Palace medical after Chelsea loan agreed | OneFootball

Axel Disasi is due to have a Crystal Palace medical on Friday before a season-long loan move from Chelsea. According to The Standard, an agreement is in place for the defender to join Palace.

Chelsea have been keen to move Disasi on this summer. He shone on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season, despite their relegation, attracting widespread interest.

In January he turned down several routes out of Stamford Bridge, where he had been in what was termed the bomb squad, before opting to join the Hammers.

West Ham explored a permanent transfer but are set to miss out to their London rivals, who are entering their first campaign under new manager Pierre Sage.

Disasi would bolster Palace at centre-back after they sold Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea earlier this summer for £52 million.

Asked on Thursday about recruiting a centre-back before the window shuts, Sage said the club want someone with plenty of games, ideally in the Premier League. He stressed they need a leader and may wait to find the right option.

Pressed on Disasi specifically, he noted that the player belongs to Chelsea and said it was difficult to discuss another club’s player, though he was aware of the noise around the links.
