Iraq forward Aymen Hussein underwent a lengthy interrogation on arrival in Chicago overnight from Friday to Saturday, with his national side in France’s World Cup group from 11 June.

He was eventually allowed to rejoin the squad after his team-mates had already been greeted by fans in the terminal. The Iraqi federation has not commented. Reuters, citing an Iraqi official, said team photographer Talal Salah was held for more than 10 hours and then refused entry to the United States.
