Morocco striker Ayoub El Kaabi received two offers from French clubs before the winter transfer window closes.

Moroccan forward Ayoub El Kaabi could be heading to the French league before the January transfer deadline, with reports suggesting that two Ligue 1 sides are preparing moves for the experienced striker.

El Kaabi has been in strong form in recent months especially after shining at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 which was hosted in Morocco.

The 32 year-old played a key role in his country’s run to the final.

According to Moroccan media reports, Nantes & Angers are both interested in signing him during the current transfer window.

Strong AFCON display boosts his profile

El Kaabi scored three goal during AFCON 2025 including two stunning overhead kicks that became some of the tournament’s most talked-about moments.

He helped Morocco reach the final where the Atlas Lions finished as runners-up after 1-0 defeat to Senegal.

His performances increased interest from clubs abroad, with France now emerging as possible next step.

Olympiacos form makes him a hot target

El Kaabi currently plays for Olympiacos having joined the Greek club in summer 2023.

His contract runs until June meaning transfer could be possible at reasonable price.

This season, he has been one of Olympiacos’ standout players scoring 16 goal in 24 match while also providing two assist.

He has also found the net against major European opponents including Barcelona & Real Madrid in Champions League.

His consistent scoring record is one of the main reasons Ligue 1 clubs are now considering late January move.

Career path before a possible French move

El Kaabi has never played in France before. He began his career in Morocco with Racing Casablanca, then moved to RS Berkane before heading to China in 2018.

He later returned to Morocco with Wydad and made his first European move in 2021 with Hatayspor in Turkey.

After spells in Qatar with Al Sadd, he joined Olympiacos where his reputation has continued to grow.
