When AZ Alkmaar sold Vangelis Pavlidis in the summer, many wondered how this would effect them on the pitch. After six games to start the 2024/2025 season, the side have scored 16 goals, conceded two and won five. It’s fair to say that so far, they are doing well without their former start striker.
On Friday evening Ibrahim Sadiq scored twice for the side a they beat PEC Zwolle 2-1 to remain unbeaten. The Ghanaian has scored four goals for the side this season, one more than he managed last campaign. Troy Parrot also has four, although he scored all of his in one game against Heerenveen. Sadiq, on the other hand, has also grabbed three assists to start the season. The 24-year-old is certainly stepping up this season.
AZ will hope to keep their form going in the Europa League next week when they start their continental campaign against Elsfborg, before hosting FC Utrecht next weekend in the Eredivisie.
