AZ are rewarding the golden generation that won the Youth League two years ago, with the Alkmaar team in talks with three players about contract extensions.
AZ want to extend goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro’s contract. The stopper is currently first choice under the bar for Maarten Martens’ team and his current deal runs until the summer of 2028. The contracts of Ernest Poku (mid-2026) and Ro-Zangelo Daal (until mid-2028) are also topics of discussion for the Alkmaarders.
Director Max Huiberts confirmed to Voetbal International that the contract extensions also provide financial benefits for the players.
“These guys have performed well and that should be appreciated. We are going to do that in the form of improved conditions. It is possible that not all of them will sign a new contract, but we will see if that is a possibility. This fits in with our policy, with which we invest in continuity in the group of players and the staff.”
Previously, a number of other important players had already extended their contracts with AZ. Mexx Meerdink signed until the summer of 2030, while Zico Buurmeester and Maxim Dekker had also extended their contracts.
