AC Milan will face Celtic in an international friendly as part of the Men's First Team's preparations for the 2026/27 season. The match, scheduled before the squad departs for its pre-season tour of Australia and Indonesia, will take place on Saturday 25 July at Celtic Park in Glasgow against Celtic. It marks something of a change from the trend seen in the new millennium, when the Rossoneri's friendly fixtures in Scotland were more commonly played against Rangers. Meetings with Celtic, meanwhile, have largely come in official competition, notably in the Champions League campaigns of 2004/05, 2007/08 and 2013/14. Looking specifically at friendlies, AC Milan have faced Rangers far more often than the green-and-white side from the other side of Glasgow's football divide. One notable summer encounter between Rangers and AC Milan took place in July 2002 and ended in a 2-2 draw.

The match was played at the historic Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow in front of 40,411 spectators and featured the Rangers debut of a young Spanish midfielder, Mikel Arteta, now manager of Arsenal. Rangers raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half through goals from De Boer and Caniggia. AC Milan pulled one back before the break thanks to Jon Dahl Tomasson, before Marco Borriello struck in the 80th minute to secure a 2-2 draw. Among the players on the pitch was Gennaro Gattuso, a former Rangers star. Another friendly at Ibrox followed in February 2009, producing the same 2-2 scoreline. Played during the season as a midweek fixture, the match provided an opportunity to integrate Thiago Silva, who would become eligible for official competition shortly afterwards. Pato scored AC Milan's first goal, with Kaká adding the second before Rangers fought back to earn the draw. Next stop: Celtic Park.
