Roberto Baggio shared a funny story from his time at Brescia, involving his labrador and the late coach Carlo Mazzone, when he made a television appearance during an interview with Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola on Sunday night.
Baggio made a surprise appearance on a video feed during an interview with Guardiola on the entertainment show Che Tempo Che Fa on Sunday evening, where he also discussed his time at Brescia alongside the future treble winner.
Baggio, a senior player during his time with Brescia but still widely regarded as one of the game’s greats, revealed that he was afforded slightly special treatment compared to his other teammates when it came to a dog-related incident at the training ground.
“That was a special time,” he said.
“We didn’t know that the coach, Mazzone, was scared of dogs. One day he scolded one of my teammates for bringing his dog to the training pitch, he treated him quite badly. Nobody knew about it. He got a bit scared.
“A few days later I came along with my Labrador, with my son, and he (Mazzone) saw him running with the ball, going back and forth. He asked whose dog it was, they told him ‘look, it’s Baggio’s’ and he said to let him play and give him a biscuit.”
