Leon Bailey was sidelined during his first training session with Roma.
The Jamaican winger suffered a suspected myotendinous tear in his right rectus femoris and will undergo further tests today to determine the extent of the problem, according to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
The initial impressions are not positive: the most optimistic scenario is a grade I injury, with recovery estimated at around a month.
If the diagnosis proves more serious, the sidelines could extend until October.
The player, who underwent initial checks yesterday, subsequently flew to London to obtain a visa, a trip he had planned for some time.
Bailey is no stranger to muscle problems: last season with Aston Villa, he missed 12 games due to similar injuries. This injury also represents a wake-up call for the coaching staff, who will have to wait for the next medical results to determine when he will be available again.
