Bailey to return against Inter

Leon Bailey is yet to make a single appearance for Roma since his summer move from Aston Villa.

His recovery from injury is proceeding very slowly.

He’s been out in the infirmary for almost sixty days, longer than expected: initially, there was talk of a 30-40 day layoff, but the Jamaican hasn’t trained with the team.

After missing Bologna, Pisa, Torino, Lazio, Nice, and Verona, he’ll also miss Lille and Fiorentina.

The realistic goal is to see him in the squad no earlier than the match against Inter, while a starting debut could only come between the 26th (Sassuolo-Roma) and the 29th (Roma-Parma) of October.

Gasperini envisions Bailey as the alternative to Soulé on the right, a position Roma are short on, but he can also play on the left or as a central striker, behind or in place of Ferguson and Dovbyk.
