The first award of the Ballon d'Or ceremony recognised the season's top young talents. La Masia's gems dominated the category with awards for Lamine Yamal among men, and Vicky López in the women's competition.
Also a contender for the main Ballon d'Or award, Yamal received the Kopa Trophy for the second consecutive year. The jewel of Barcelona had also won the trophy last season.
The Spanish forward beat competitors including Estevão from Chelsea, Désiré Doué and João Neves from PSG, Kenan Yildiz from Juventus, Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, Pau Cubarsí from Spain, Dean Huijsen from Real Madrid, Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal, and Rodrigo Mora from Porto.
At 18 years old, Yamal led Barcelona to the Spanish Championship title and the Champions League semi-finals, scoring 18 goals and providing 21 assists in 55 appearances for the club.
The strength of La Masia also propelled 19-year-old Vicky López to the award in the women's competition. The Spanish player won the treble with Barcelona last season, securing the Spanish Championship, the Spanish Cup, and the Super Cup.
Vicky López won the competition against Michelle Agyemang from Arsenal, Linda Caicedo from Real Madrid, Wieke Kaptein from Chelsea, and Claudia Martínez Ovando from Olimpia.
